  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 slices mozzarella cheese (cut into ghost shapes)
  • Black sesame seeds or peppercorns (for eyes)
  • Olive oil or butter (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni in salted water until just tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk and cook for 3–4 minutes until thickened.
  4. Off heat, stir in cheddar and Parmesan until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Combine the pasta with the cheese sauce until well coated.
  6. Grease a baking dish, then spread the mac & cheese mixture evenly.
  7. Top with ghost-shaped mozzarella slices and add black sesame seeds or peppercorns for eyes.
  8. Bake at 375°F for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
